In Izhevsk, Department of Counteraction Against Extremism (CPE, formerly
Administration on Fight with Organised Crime UBOP) once againt framed up
a criminal case against anti-fascist movement.
This is just the latest episode in a chain of repressions against
anti-fascists, which started i 2008 - during a year more than 80 people
have been illegally detained for various reasons, five criminal cases
have been opened, but in four charges cases were closed as "crime had
not taken place".
While investigating these cases, officers of UBOP were using a variety
of illegal means. Witnesses and accused were targeted with verbal and
psychological abuse, there were number of cases with anti-fascists being
tortured and threatened. In all of the criminal cases, announced
"victims" were Nazis, who were in trouble with the law - in practice all
of them were facing felony charges for "hooliganism", "causing physical
harm", "vandalism" and other statues of Russian criminal codex.
New criminal case is against three anti-fascists, who are facing charges
according to statute 213 part 2 of Russian criminal codex (hooliganism,
perpetrated with a group with a prior planning). According to
investigation, accused participated to a fight with Nazis 4th of March
2009 in proximity of movie theater "Druzhba". All of the accused have
sound alibis, but this does not bother investigators - real reason of
the prosecution is that all of the accused are members of the
anti-fascist movement in Izhevsk. In 2008, against one of the accused
faced three felony charges, but all of those charges were later dropped.
All of the "victims" of the new case are Nazis, infamous in Izhevsk - A.
Paramygin ("Anton-nebon"), M. Volkov ("Wolf") and A. Agafonov (Esaul).
All of the three have participated to attacks against anti-fascists, in
August of 2006 they attacked against one of the defendants of the case,
Aleksander M., who wounded his hand, in 2007 they attacked D. Safronova,
who suffered serious wounds to his lungs.
Currently anti-fascists are risking a prison sentence of up to 7 years.
Solidarity and material aid is necessary to provide them with lawyers.

First episode of new felony case was arrest of Aleksander M. 5th of may,
around 6 AM when he was on his way to wor, he was arrested on his way to
work by Center of Counteraction Against Extremism. After arrest, he was
taken to building of CPE (former UBOP) at Repin street 31.
First he was put under pressure by CPE officers, who verbally abused him
for several hours, then a number of investigation procedures were
orgnanised - confrontations with witnesses and identifications, which
were continued the whole day. He was held owernight, and taken back to
CPE until around 3 PM the next day.
During all this time, he was not given any food.
6th of may, there was a court as police attempted to remand Aleksander,
using means such as falsification of the interrogation protocols and
other dirty means, but eventually judge did not agreed to remand him,
but instead released Aleksander with travelling restrictions.
It is very tendentious, that police wants to remand an anti-fascists,
whereas almost all Izhevsk Nazis facing felony charges are out waiting
court. Amongst more than ten Izhevsk Nazis, who are facing felony
charges of attacking anti-fascists with arms and causing grievous bodily
harm 23rd of September 2008 at river Karlutka and 29th of November 2008
in proximity of DK "Reduktor", only one is remanded and all others are
free waiting for their courts.
13th of May around 8 AM on his way to work Andrey P. was arrested and
taken to CPE. All day under 7 PM he was under investigation,
confrontations with witnesses and identifications were organised. 15th
of May one more anti-fascist Mark K. passed the same procedures, both of
them are now free waiting for the court.
